Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island
The number of vacancies advertised on SEEK has remained steady across the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island; Health, aged and social care in this region remained significant in June accounting for 29% of all jobs advertised.
Interestingly, the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island has seen a large increase in the proportion of blue collar, trades and manufacturing roles being advertised which for the first time this year has overtaken Healthcare roles and is now the leading type of role now being advertised at 35%.
Adelaide Hills
Across the Adelaide Hills, the number of job vacancies and type of vacancies remained very similar in June as to April and May, with blue Collar, trade and manufacturing remaining the largest job types on offer at 37%. Retail and Sales vacancies saw the greatest change with jobs on offer – more than doubling from 8% to 18% from May to June.
Recently released ABS detailed labour force statistics show that the jobs market is approaching ‘full-employment’ levels in the Adelaide Hills and the state’s South-East. Once we see regional unemployment rates at these levels, it’s generally a sign that just about everyone who wants a job can get one. This is great for workers, though not necessarily for businesses owners, who must find the right workers from a very limited labour pool.
Without the migration of people from overseas and interstate, employers are still finding it hard to fill roles.
Regional Development Australia AHFKI continues to deliver the Regional Workforce Program in the region and has provided a full recruitment service at no cost with several placements made in aged care, business administration, viticulture and in the trades.
