Exploring the future of agriculture

Students, industry representatives and primary producers attended this inaugural event exploring ag tech and career futures.

More than 250 school students from across the Fleurieu region attended Fleurieu AG FEST 2023. The event showcased the ideas and technology being used in primary production, and conservation and land management, alongside the career pathways available in agriculture and related industries.

Students who attended had the opportunity to learn about a range of topics including:

  • regenerative farming
  • animal and vet science
  • carbon farming
  • climate projections
  • dairy and cattle farming and production
  • food production
  • manufacturing

along with the various careers avenues available across the industry.

In addition to information sessions, students had the chance to speak with people working in the agriculture industry. This provided an opportunity to gain insights into the career options that exist and the first-hand realities of working in the industry.

Supporting students to speak directly with people already working in the agriculture sector helps students recognize and understand the opportunities that exist.
