Explore connections between people, nature & conservation
Join Island Stewards as they explore the interaction between people, nature, conservation, culture and livelihood
Since the first meeting in 2009 held on the Great Barrier Reef, the Island Arks Symposium has grown considerably to now include Oceania. Previously held on Daydream Island, Tasmania, Norfolk Island, Fiji, Rottnest Island and Philip Island in 2024 the Symposium will be held on Kangaroo Island.
The 8th Biennial Island Ark Symposium provides an exciting opportunity to share the knowledge and practices of our Island stewards.
It is a targeted opportunity for Traditional Custodians, community groups, practitioners, land managers, policy makers and scientists to explore the challenges, pathways and solutions to successfully balancing competing pressures to ensure the sustainability of islands.
The program will begin on Monday, August 26th, with the welcome event from 4 to 7 p.m. Keynote speakers, presentations, panels, and a field trip will run from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The networking dinner will be on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m.
