Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is the language of the Deaf Community in Australia.

Sign language is a visual spatial language which uses hand shapes and movements as well as facial expressions and body language.

Auslan has its own vocabulary and grammar that is different from that of spoken languages. TAFE SA Auslan courses start with introductory signing skills then move on to developing skills for confidently communicating in routine and challenging contexts.

Auslan language skills can be an advantage for work in teaching, child care, community welfare, public service and health positions.

TAFE SA is considering conducting a Certificate II in Auslan course at the Mount Barker campus in 2020.

If you are interested in finding out more about this course please attend this information session.
