The State Government has announced a $55 million package of support to assist farmers and communities impacted by ongoing drought conditions. Key immediate measures include:
- Fodder Assistance
An additional $4 million to help charities with freight costs for transporting donated fodder to drought-affected farmers, providing essential resources for feeding livestock. - Water Support
$1.4 million to co-invest in regional standpipe upgrades, ensuring critical water access for farming communities. - Immediate Financial Relief
Rebates for Emergency Services Levy and commercial vehicle registration fees, targeted at primary producers receiving the Commonwealth’s Farm Household Allowance. - Additional Financial Assistance
Grants to assist farmers with immediate financial relief, helping to manage operational costs during the crisis.
A range of additional measures, include financial relief for students, grants for community events, and significant investment in future drought preparedness, highlight the comprehensive approach to tackling the impacts of ongoing drought conditions.
