Building Better Regions Fund – Round Four

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, the Hon Michael McCormack MP, has announced the opening of Round Four of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF).

Round Four is aimed at supporting drought-affected regions by targeting projects that will benefit communities affected by drought. Applications will be ineligible if projects are not located in a drought-affected location, and if satisfactory evidence is not provided to support the applicants claims. The BBRF Guidelines list examples of what evidence can be provided to support claims that projects are located in a drought-affected region.

The demand for BBRF from the communities is very strong. The first three rounds were highly competitive with just over 2,600 applications received, with 832 projects funded, totalling just over $643 million. Round Four provides an additional $200 million, giving further opportunity for eligible applicants to apply.

As part of the application process, the following new section has been added seeking authority from the applicant to provide their application to their local RDA:

  • “By checking this box you agree to allow your application to be provided to your relevant Regional Development Australia Committee (RDA) once project selection has been finalised. Please note, your application is being provided for the RDA’s information only, to provide awareness of projects in their local region. The RDA may contact you to find out more about your project and discuss how they can assist with further applications. For more information on the role of RDA’s go to www.rda.gov.au.

Applications for this round are now closed.
