  • Adelaide Hills Skills Executive (AH Skills Exec.) Project.
    SAWorks Funding: $4,000
The purpose of the AH Skills Exec is to lead agencies in the integration and coordination of skill development policy, strategy and services, in the Adelaide Hills region to ensure that the coordination of skill development programs, reflect the needs and opportunities of individuals, industry and the wider community. The group consists of the RDA, DECD, DWEER with representatives from the community and Private schools in the region.
  • Youth Strategy
    SAWorks Funding: $4,000
Why a Regional Youth Strategy? - The need for a regional Youth Strategy has been identified by the Adelaide Hills Council and District Council of Mount Barker and other services as a need for the region. The Adelaide Hills Region has undergone significant population growth over the past ten years with current predictions for this to continue with another almost doubling in population over the next 5 – 10 years. The region also has a higher than state average proportion of families in the region. Young people form a significant part of the Adelaide Hills Community and it is important the as a region  we provide the services and infrastructure to support our young people if they are to grow up as contributors to our community.
  • Work Experience
    SAWorks Funding: $14,800
With the introduction of the Skills for All training guarantee there is increasing expectation of those seeking work experience and undertaking training and employment activities to achieve significant placement hours. The region has identified the need for a central co-ordinated approach to the organisation of work experience across the Hills region with signicant benefits for students and job seekers as well as for industry partners and work places. Often the complexity of securing work placement can be a barrier for employers resulting in a lack of interest in offering placement opportunities. This project will identify and them implemant a model suitable for the region.
  • Community Engagement and Assessment Project
    SAWorks Funding: $27,000
Adelaide Hills Council through The Hut Community Centre have been engaged to undertake this project.
This project aims to address barriers in:
  • Numeracy and literacy
  • Basic IT, and
  • Personal and basic employability skills

The project will be delivered in a community experiential learning environment through volunteering and hands on learning. This will prepare participants for further learning and entry level work opportunities.

  • Career & Employment Assistance Project
    SAWorks Funding: $105,000
This project will provide services across the region through career practitioners supporting primarily people with few barriers with access to career information, guidance and advice, skills recognition assistance, and self-marketing tools training and assistance. The project will also seek to establish closer ties with local schools to assist in the transition pathways for young people from school into training and employment
  •  Youth Expo

The AH Community Health Service in partnership with St. Francis de Sales High School will deliver the 2012 Youth Expo for the Adelaide Hills. The expo will have stalls from services and employers across the region providing activities to engage with young people and students from local high schools demonstrating the services (Health, employment, Councils, Legal, financial, Centrelink etc), career options, training, and assistance that is available to support young people in our region. The project will be coordinated by two students as part of their SACE with mentoring and guidance provided by the Health Service. A steering group will provide support, information and advice.

  •  Employment Access Fund
     SAWorks Funding: $42,500
The project managed by the RDA provides additional funding for industry based training either on an individual basis or for group programs. Other SAWorks projects are able to tap into this funding to support industry based training for their participants. An application form is available

It is estimated that these projects will leverage an additional $114,000 in funding from other sources working towards collaboration and coordination of programs across the Adelaide Hills.

This project works with disengaged young people and young people at risk of offending or offenders from the Juvenile Justice system for graffiti offences. The program teaches them about legitimate art practices, costs and consequences of graffiti to themselves and communities. Participants participate in graffiti cleanup, but also get to work with an Urban artist to design and paint murals in the local community or art pieces. SACE accreditation is built into the program so educational attainment for the young people is an achievement as well as building better relationships with SAPOL, Councils, and other community services.
