Cross - Regional Arts Industry Profile Project 2010 - Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu & Kangaroo Island
Prepared by David Stevenson Project Officer
It has long been recognized that art is very valuable to regional communities in both social and economic terms with strong links to growth industries including tourism, recreation and retail, as well as playing a part in Health and Community Services. Collaborative regional art strategies have the potential to generate significant benefits to local communities, both from the social and health benefits and also from economic terms, particularly with regard to tourism and retail. However there is an attitude that prevails among artists that there is nothing to be gained by attending forums or filling out surveys if there is no outcome or benefit to be realized. Many artists are unaware of the benefits that can be generated by their involvement in the collection of information and forums providing and receiving information.
